Cookie Transparency Tracker ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains our data practices.
What We Do NOT Collect
The Extension does NOT:
- Collect any personal information
- Send data to external servers
- Track your browsing history
- Store data on remote servers
- Use analytics or telemetry
- Share information with third parties
- Require an account or registration
What Data Does the Extension Access?
Cookies Permission
- Why needed: To read cookie data from websites you visit
- What we do: Display cookie information in the extension popup
- Where stored: Temporarily in browser memory only
- Who sees it: Only you, on your device
Storage Permission
- Why needed: To save your blocking preferences and whitelist
- What we do: Store settings using Chrome's local storage API
- Where stored: On your device only
- Who sees it: Only you
Tabs Permission
- Why needed: To identify which website you're currently viewing
- What we do: Read the current tab's URL to match cookies to sites
- Where stored: Not stored, used in real-time only
- Who sees it: Only you
Web Request Permission
- Why needed: To detect third-party network requests
- What we do: Monitor HTTP requests to identify external domains
- Where stored: Temporarily in browser memory only
- Who sees it: Only you
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your device using:
- JavaScript variables (in-memory, cleared when extension closes)
- Chrome's
chrome.storage.local API (for settings persistence)
No data ever leaves your device.
Data Retention
- Cookie tracking data: Cleared when browser closes or manually by user
- Settings: Persists until manually changed
- Daily statistics: Reset at midnight automatically
Third-Party Services
The Extension does NOT use:
- Analytics services (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels)
- Crash reporting services
- Ad networks
- External APIs
- Cloud storage
- Any third-party services whatsoever
Data Sharing
We do NOT share any data with third parties, advertisers, analytics companies, or anyone.
Because we don't collect any data, there's nothing to share.
Export Functionality
The Extension allows you to export cookie reports as JSON files. This is entirely optional and local:
- Files are created on your device
- Downloads use Chrome's download API
- No data is transmitted externally
- You control what to do with exported files
Children's Privacy
The Extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13. Since we collect no data at all, the Extension is safe for all ages.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- View all data the Extension has (open the extension popup)
- Delete all data (click the clear button in the extension)
- Export your data (use the export feature)
- Uninstall the Extension at any time (removes all local data)
